Michael Phelps won’t be the only one riding the endorsement wave from his historical 8 gold medal performance in Beijing.
Michael’s mom Debbie Phelps has reportedly signed a deal with women’s clothing retailer Chico’s. She was approached by the company after they saw her wearing their clothes while watching her son swim his way to Olympic glory in Beijing.
The Chico’s outfit she was seen wearing in Beijing was purchased at a Chico’s in her hometown of Towson, MD.

Michael Phelps, still riding the Olympic waves from Beijing, has been announced as the host for the season premier of “Saturday Night Live” which kicks off on September 13.
Reserved for hollywood elite’s such as Tom Hanks and Steve Martin who are both members of the “Five Timers’ Club,” the 23 year old will open the show celebrating SNL’s 34 season. Ironically the musical guest Lil Wayne graced the song list of Phelps’ Ipod before his races in Beijing.

Michael Phelps confirmed that he will be back in 2012 to compete at the London Olympics while in front of huge crowd at a handover party preceding the closing ceremonies in Beijing on Sunday.
As if the 23 year olds presence in his signature events wasn’t enough to have his fellow swimmers reeling, Phelps also revealed that he is considering adding some new events to his repertoire.
“I am looking forward to trying some new events, some events I’ve never really had the opportunity to swim since my schedule is always so crowded,”

There is no doubt that the finish in the 100m butterfly between Michael Phelps and Milorad Cavic of Serbia was ridiculously close.
Phelps edged out the Serbian by one one-hundreth of a second to clinch his seventh gold medal in the Beijing Games, tying Mark Spitz’ record of seven golds in a single Olympic Games.
But to the naked eye it was impossible to tell who won and even looked like Cavic might have touched first in the replay.

Sports Illustrated revealed their new Michael Phelps cover for the upcoming August 25th issue which is expected to hit news stands on Thursday.
This is the fifth time Phelps has graced the cover of the prestigious sports magazine. Mark Spitz, who Phelps surpassed with his astonishing 8 gold medal run, made the cover three times.
On the new cover, Phelps, who is labeled “The Alltime Olympian,” replicates the famous 1972 pose of Mark Spitz when he won his record 7 gold medals.

On August 16th, 2008, Michael Phelps became the “Alltime Olympian” winning a record breaking 8 gold medals in Beijing.
Not only did he swim his way past Mark Spitz who held the previous record of seven gold medals in one Olympics, but he also crushed the competition in total gold medals won with a career 14 gold medals. Thats 4 more than Track and Field’s Raymond Ewry.
He also tied Eric Heiden’s record of 5 individual gold medals won in a single Olympic Games.
